We believe in Hayward's future. We believe in lifelong learning for people of all ages. We believe strong and healthy libraries help us build a thriving Hayward together.
Friends of Hayward Library is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1982. We seek and secure grants; sell library-themed merchandise; and accept donations to support and enhance library services and programs in Hayward.
We proudly support Hayward's public libraries. We speak out in the community about the value of the public library, and we advocate for positive library improvements including the successful 2014 Measure C sales tax campaign.
We also raise tens of thousands of dollars annually through our popular book sales. Our regular sales take place during the Hayward Farmer's Market, second and fourth Saturdays of each month, 9am to 1pm. We also schedule special book sales often -- check our event schedule for upcoming book sales and other Friends events.
100% of the funds we raise are used to:
- Enrich children's lives through innovative services and programs
- Provide capital funding for Library equipment and technology
- Enhance the Library collections with new books and media
- Support programs that celebrate Hayward's cultural diversity
