About Us

girl-reading-book.jpgThe Friends of the Hayward Library established in 1982. We seek and secure grants; sell library-themed merchandise; and accept donations to support and enhance library services and programs in Hayward.

The Hayward Friends proudly support Hayward's public libraries. We speak out in the community about the value of the public library, and we advocate for positive library improvements including the successful Measure C campaign.

We also raise tens of thousands of dollars annually through our book sales now happening at our new store on the ground floor of the Downtown Hayward Library.

100% of the funds we raise are used to:

  • Enrich children's lives through innovative services and programs
  • Provide capital funding for Library equipment and technology
  • Enhance the Library collections with new books and media
  • Support programs that celebrate Hayward's cultural diversity
